DPO is using the latest management practices after engaging specialist training company Great Managers.
Ten senior DPO managers have just graduated from the Great Managers Academy Program to improve DPO’s management performance. The six-month program included weekly interactive video training sessions, leadership forum workshops, and master classes conducted by Great Managers founder and CEO Sandra Wood.
DPO Director Barry Morcom believes manager training doesn’t only benefit the managers – it flows on to staff and customers too.
“These days you can’t just promote a staff member to a manager position and leave them to pick it up as they go along,” he said. “A manager needs all kinds of skills, such as:
communicating effectively with people, whether they’re staff, customers or suppliers;
getting your point across in meetings and one-on-one situations;
managing systematically;recruiting and retaining the best staff; and
developing, motivating and engaging staff to achieve business goals quickly.
“These skills help to ensure that customers have positive experiences when they visit DPO stores. It’s good to know that our managers are up to speed, thanks to Sandra and her Great Managers team,” Barry said.
