The Northern Territory’s economic fortunes are set to change dramatically – that was the message from Housing Industry Association economist Geordan Murray at the HIA NT’s annual Outlook breakfast on August 12.
Mr Murray discussed the latest economic developments with a special focus on the territory, including the HIA’s outlook for the residential building industry in 2017 and beyond, at the DPO-sponsored function.
“The mining boom is becoming a distant memory, and we are seeing changes right across the economy,” Mr Murray said.
“There are likely to be some challenges emerge that haven’t been on the radar in the NT for the best part of a decade. With an election on the horizon, we must see political parties embrace the changes and respond with new policy measures that will help the territory navigate this transition.
“The residential building industry can play a big part in this.”
DPO is a Premier Partner of the HIA.
